Pediatric Wellness Center of Amarillo

40+ years experience

The Pediatric Wellness Center of Amarillo opened its doors for primary care services in mid-September of 2013 because Drs. Pia and Rolf Habersang are passionate about caring for children and their families. Each has over 40 years of experience in the healthcare field – she as a Nurse Practitioner and him as a Physician – mainly in Pediatrics. For many of those years, the Pedi Provider Clinic /Texas Tech Health Science Center was their home “away from home” where they provided care for children, many of them with special needs. Invariably, families who entrusted their children to their care questioned whether the “standard of care” is enough and or the right intervention for their children.

Hence, both Drs Habersang explored, researched and studied alternative approaches to allow a child to reach his or her potential in the best state of wellness even if at times illness presents itself. Their approach to strengthening a child’s immune system through healthy nutrition became the focus of not only helping children but also empowering parents through education.

That modality is based on the sayings of the father of medicine, Hippocrates who stated over 2000 years ago:

  1. “The Natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.”
  2. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Mission Statement

We partner with parents of infants, children, and adolescents and other systems of care that surround them so that all children will be well and healthy whatever their life circumstances, challenges and resources may be so they may succeed as early learners and have opportunities to thrive and reach their potential.

Our goal is to make a difference in the life of children by providing quality health care. We love what we do!

Healthcare

After retiring in 2013 from Texas Tech Pedi Providers – Dr. Pia Habersang decided to provide a place for those families who opt to pursue primary health care for their children without the pressure to conform to conventional care (which is more likely the case within an academic setting of a Medical School), e.g. mandates for vaccinations or adherence to “protocols”.

The parents’ educated decisions about what is best for their children to optimize their well-being is an important and fundamental aspect of the relationship between parents and providers. Their questions and decisions, either way, whether to vaccinate their child or not, will always be respected at the Pediatric Wellness Center of Amarillo.
